Phew...Mother Hen saves the day again

Just when I thought the stress of leaving the country yet again was getting to be too much, I got this from my mom and breathed a sigh of relief. Believe me, friends, I'll be blogging like mad just as soon as I can. Got some awesome emails from some Londoners and am getting mighty stoked. Living the life, babies, just living the life.

To quote this properly, it looks like it was scanned from Rainer Maria Rilke. Oh, I found it. You can find more here if you want more inspiration :)

Leanne and Mark's wedding was this weekend and it was the most beautiful day I have ever seen. In all honesty, the months of blogging and emailing and planning back and forth between her and I could not have prepared me for her vision that came to light. It was remarkable. I have ample pics, so I'll share soon.

I leave tomorrow, by the way. Back to packing.

Blur

The weeks leading up to my last in Ontario have been an absolute blur. I seem to recall one morning when I wrote a paper for a friend of mine. I was at Shalaina's and realized quickly that this was the FIRST morning I'd had to myself (and, as it turns out, the last TIME I'd HAVE by myself) this summer. That was August 3rd or so. Sigh.

I love you all and just ADORE the amount of time spent doing not much but all that you want to do all at once.

I must say though, I'm really getting hyped up for my bachelorette pad.

London? Solo? Need I say more?

(WAIT! I need to ensure we know that I'm saying how AWESOME London will be flying solo...just so we're clear).

I have yet to buy a Mac (the computer or the raincoat), but I AM finally the proud owner of a pair of Hunter Wellies. Red. Likey.

Anyway, I'm writing to fill you in on this: I just finished a GREAT risotto and we just ate it and are now pleasently full and satisfied. And a little drunk, but that's besides the point.

Can't tell you how blessed I feel at this exact moment.

NYC pics and stories coming soon. New camera is up and operating fully. :)

A Little Ice on a Hot Day

I thought this was fate-ual (yup, made that one up a few years back...LOVE it).

I found a cheap flight to England. It stops in Iceland at 6 am and doesn't leave until dinner time. I thought, "Hmm..what is there to do in Iceland when one has all day?" Because hey, when will I ever be back to Iceland?

And then, on my daily perusal of all things blog-tastic, I stumbled upon this video. I'm totally in love with everything about it. Looks like I'll be doing some sightseeing in Iceland. Wow...again, if if my Past Self read this, she would not believe the adventures. Life's cool.

Video found on A Cup of Jo, who thanks A Goddess in the Making, who attributes it back to Vimeo. There's lots more there (on Vimeo) if you like to giggle a bit.

Good day!

Oh, P.S. My package arrived in Canada with all my winter clothes (and your books, Laur). Good stuff travels fast! Thanks for keeping that safe, A-LEASH and Dave ;)

Bachelor Pad

Though I used to love the amount of space in my home in Canada, I have grown not only accustomed, but also fond of my current apartment. Everything is handy, cheap, and good for the environment. It's a win-win.

Found this image and thought it was a perfectly done bachelor apartment. When you only have ONE room, how else can you decorate? Love it! Also, I have a feeling that my place in England is going to be pretty small, so I'm going to have to love it for at least a year more ;)

The English Interview

I had my interview with the school in England last night. The interview went remarkably well and they offered me a position right away.

I had to put on my very best interview face because we were via Skype and struggled HARD with the "you are
strictly prohibited from crossing your legs...always" rule my doctor has implemented. But the 45 minutes whizzed by and the principal and headmaster (headmistress? That sounds wrong...) were really on point.

I loved their philosophies about assessment and evaluation, a modular school year, and the two main foci of the school: the environment and business. I was really happy with them.

So here is the debate, folks. Do I live in the quaint suburb of London called
Dartford, or do I commute everyday from London proper? Rent is about $400 a month less in the town and I'd save on the tube pass (about $250 a month). That's big bucks over a whole year. BUT, (whining) I really want to live in the city.

Hmmm...thoughts?
