your darkest

Steven and I had lengthy conversations yesterday about past experiences; past lives.  It strikes me as quite amazing that there are people in my life that I allowed to stay even when they really didn't deserve to be there.  I put up with things that don't feel right (don't we all?)...things that are just dire once you retell the tale that's been lived.  Sometimes I forget the things that have happened and it takes fresh ears to hear the story anew before I realize just how bad it was...and just how much better it should be.

Still, though you might be on the receiving end of the contrary, there is an unrelenting desire in me to forgive that overshadows the need to hold a grudge.  What's the point?  This is the nature of the quote above: there is a part of me that sees the good at all times, not just during the good times.  Have I always been like this?  Is this a new trait?  Am I evolving into the peaceful person I've always wanted to be?  Whatever the case may be, I think it's lovely.

Just got off the Skype with Laura and the bebes.  We said our goodbyes after the girls did some new dances and songs, and then Ellie totally lost it.  Laura had to call back because she was crying :(  What a pumpkin.  How I do miss those bebes and their mummy xxx  ...maybe enough to come home at Christmas?  ;)

London Rain

Some London nights are perfect.  They are rainy and dusk falls easily over the river.  The sky turns a sort of pinky gray and all the day's angst sort of fades with the light.  It's breathtaking.

Imagine this: I've been here for over two years and I've never been in a house I actually like.  The style here is quite unique.  I miss the open spaces from home; miss the backyards; miss the windows.  The girls and I couldn't help but comments on the spectacular windows that helped to personify Amsterdam.  They were everywhere and they reminded me of what houses should look like.  Found this beauty and realized they DO beautiful homes here...you just have to search for them.

Lately I feel as though I'm treading water professionally.  That sounds so severe and in reality, life's not really all that tough here, but it feels as though I'm just making due...not ahead, not behind...just in limbo.  Ugh, limbo is the worst.  It leads me to think I've got nothing new and exciting to say or think; I've just got work on my mind all the time.  A drag, non?  It's not a rut, it's just consuming.  That's perhaps the best way to describe it.  Anyway, I've got a lovely weekend planned with two smashing gals and one handsome fella, as soon as I get all this work out of the way tonight.  What a Friday: laundry, planning, in bed early.  I'm a non-stop thrill ride tonight, I tell you.

To Do

Today is an easy day at school.  Good thing because we're off to see King Charles tonight (I assure you this clip is not a joke, contrary to what one handsome fella thought) at Koko in London and tomorrow is a five-period day.  Yowza.

In keeping with the theme of all things lovey and dovey (my mood de jour lately), I hope you're having a swell week and have something lovely planned for the weekend.  I'll be hunkered down after work on Saturday...

Amsterdam: As Good as it Gets

It wasn't just the canals that took our breath away...it was the beauty of the architecture, the bikes leaned up on just about any surface, the families (whole families!) traveling on one bicycle.  It was the food and the drink; the sunshine and the atmosphere.  Twas a beautiful place.
