Running in Devon

Check out that fireplace!  I'm missing it already :(

Steven, his brothers, and I headed out along a few trails atop a few cliffs, overlooking a big, blue sea.  What a magical place (we recuperated every night in puddles of wine in positions like those demonstrated above in front of this glorious fire.  Bliss).

Freezing Family Beach Day

Steven and I headed out for an early run and not only did I go over on my ankle, but I fell HARD on the ground (see child-friendly bandaid, above).  It was not my best outing.  We had done two runs in the previous two days, so I think I was tired, but still, two injuries in one day left me a little worse for wear by the time we went home.  I was in so much pain after this glorious beach day, I had to lean on Steven the whole walk back to the car.  It was excruciating.  A few days off now have left it healed quite nicely, thankfully.

So here you have it: what we thought was the most glorious beach in all of Devon: East Portlemouth, just near Mill Bay.  What a joy to get into the freezing cold water (even just to the waist down!) and lounge around on the sandy beach.

After a long day in the sunshine, the clouds rolled in and it was high time to get a fire started.  Ah, the good life.

Crabbing

Don't be so crabby…

Hope Cove Beach

It was a bit chilly for bathing suits, but certainly sunny enough for us.

Beesands Beach

We had a week-long holiday in Devon, away from phone reception, away from the internet (for the most part…Wifi was super dodgy at the cottage), away from the noise and the hectic-ness and the crazy life here in the city.  What a paradise.

Borough Market After Hours

After a pretty epically bad start to the day (we never take "I'm super miserable" selfies, do we?), Steven and I wound up at the Southbank over what was supposed to be one drink.  We paid too much for them though, and wound up at an after-work pub in the building where Bridget Jones' fictitious apartment is (remember that from the movie?).  Shortly thereafter, we were joined by Dell, who changed the dynamic into A Night Out.  Walking through Borough after it was all shut down (bar the angry-looking man who was all smiles until I whipped out my camera…yikes!) was a surreal experience…not a person in sight, which thrills me in the city.  Here's a bit of what we saw...

Though we came home at a decent hour, there was much frivolity involving a bottle of water and annoying our fellow travellers.  #sorrynotsorry, as they say.

Hope you had a great weekend xx
