Friday Night on the Town

As it happens, we hit up Jewel on Friday afternoon ;) for some cocktails.  We were all feeling quite happy to be seated at Chitt Bhardwa's table at the front of the club!  This meant an open window and plenty of sunshine for our copious amount of champagne cocktails and mohitos.  Not a bad way to spend a Friday evening.  Though I headed home quite early, admittedly, I really tried my best to split my time as effectively as possible.

Thanks for a great night out, you fabulous trio of young ladies, you.   xxx

love

-->

Making love was never about you and me in a bed.
We made love whenever we held hands.

Crispy

It was Sports Day today and I wore my best tank top for the sunshine.

Too bad the sunshine was more sun and less England than I anticipated.  Burned and a little heat exhausted (because that's a thing, right?), I'm headed to bed nice and early tonight.

I taught a life lesson to a student today who dislikes a certain prone-to-yelling teacher.  When some Strangers appeared at the fence today, The Yeller simply had to walk up to them and say, "Get outta here" in a very calm voice, and the kids vanished.

"Did you see how she handled that?  She dominated without yelling at all."

"Yeah, Miss.  You couldn't have done that."

"Exactly.  See?  We all have our talents.  We all have our roles.  We are all important in some way."

"Yes," he said very somberly.  "Yes, you are right about that."

I love a productive day.

Box Hill

After some pizza on Friday night so neither of us had to cook, Steven and I embarked on a 13 km running/hiking journey through the woods at Box Hill.  What an adventure!  Here are some somewhat unattractive pics, but hey, the scenery is pretty nice ;)

Needless to say, my legs are burning a little bit today, so we laid low this Father's Day Sunday.  I hope you all had a great weekend.

The family is celebrating in Niagara Falls at my Uncle's house.

Happy Father's Day, Dad.  You're a sweet, sweet man, with the patience of a saint.  I miss you xxx

When you just know it

Sometimes it's nice not to have to say certain things.  They're understood, implied, well known.  I hope you're having a swell day.  xx

What a Man

I, with a deeper instinct, choose a man who compels my strength, who makes enormous demands on me, who does not doubt my courage or my toughness, who does not believe me naïve or innocent, who has the courage to treat me like a woman.

Box Hill

We went to Box Hill on Sunday for a freezing cold picnic.  No matter...though the sun didn't show her pretty face, the view was nice and the picnic was also good.

Oh, who am I kidding?  Freezing cold picnics suck.  Ha!  I hope your weekend was swell (and slightly warmer than mine!)

The View from St Paul's

Frank's leaving at the end of July, so understandably he has a list of things that still must be done in London, and we ticked St Paul's off yesterday.  It was a beautiful, albeit chilly day: perfect for the views from the top.

Little did I know you aren't to take pictures inside the Cathedral...I was glad I wasn't told to delete these ones, Crown-Jewels-Styles ;)

There are five hundred and change stairs to three levels...

The Whispering Gallery is just aboud the coolest thing ever.  At the base of the dome, there are tiny benches all around the curved area, with rails overlooking the alter.  If you sit even across from each other (a distance of about 100 metres), and talk into the wall, as the listener puts his or her ear to the wall, you can HEAR EACH OTHER.  It's so radical.  You should have heard us: "This is the coolest thing ever!"  "This is the best day of my life!" ...it went on.

Then we kept climbing...

...and finally looked down at the centre of the church from waaay too high up...

Here is my favourite picture of the day...

The Tate Modern and Millennium Bridge:

We left and headed over to the Museum of London for a photography exhibit on Michael Caine.  Twas delightful. We walked out the door and stumbled upon the London Wall.  No biggie...just a two thousand year old relic in the centre of the city.

Clearly Frank was enamoured.

After lunch at Princi, where we had amazing thin, thin, thin crust pizza, it was off to SoHo for a drink in the sunshine.

It was a delightful day.

We're just getting ready now before heading out for a picnic.

I hope your weekend is going well.

All the things

Cultivate the habit of being grateful for every good thing that comes to you, and to give thanks continuously. And because all things have contributed to your advancement, you should include all things in your gratitude.

It's the little things, folks

I'm in the eleventh hour of a project I should could have finished a little while ago, but truthfully was not given enough time to complete and I found this (while procrastinating) and thought it was fitting.

Here's to humour (and good looks!).

Great News

I talked to my mother yesterday who, thrillingly, announced that at his last visit to the doc, Doug's esophagus is clear as day.  There are no blockages...there is nothing impeding the passageway at all.  Gosh, I do sound medical, don't I?

This is cause for celebration.

Much love to both of you...
and here's to great health. xx

To-die-for Kitchen

Kitchens in London, especially in the old, prestigious parts, have basement-ish kitchens that walk out onto backyards.  I love this idea.  You walk up a few steps from street level to get to the rest of the house, then walk downstairs to get to the kitchen, but then up a few more to get to your own backyard.

Oh London, you've done it again.
