A few things...
I have been home now for over a month and time here is ticking by all the time. It's neat how sometimes time flies and other times it seems to take forever. For me it's taking exactly the right amount of time. I have been spending most of my days visiting and have seen nearly everyone (save Diti [I'm a terrible friend], Chantal in London, my aunt in East Jesus Somewhere, and Cathy from the bank).
Today I drove by the Ghost's house tonight after yoga (because let's face it, we all would do the drive by eventually: you know it's true) and I was overcome with a feeling of calm. It was pleasant to actually feel relaxed instead of on the edge of my seat, as I thought I would feel. I drove by our old house, saw that my boxwoods were growing like mad and that the new windows the new owner put in are atrocious (so worth the extra money to have new windows look old on a hundred and fifty-year old house), but it was still there. Life moves on whether you are ready for it or not.
Jamie came by the house yesterday after a whirlwind two-hour yoga session and equally hectic lunch with my mother. We shared a lot...she's bought herself a brand new house and is moving in right before I leave. I'm so proud of her: she looks and sounds and acts like a new person. She was lovely before...she's coming into her own now (ON her own) and it's amazing to see the transformation.
I'm also reading the Twilight Saga. I'm totally enthralled and not at all embarrassed. Voila done.
I had Mattina's Pizza after a year of going without. That is, by far, the best pizza EVER. 905-527-7918: Barton at John (the old Pane de Sole). I'm just saying.
Remember this in case you forgot: there is time for everything. Isn't life amazing? I leave for England on August 24. Ticket is bought, visa is in order, and I can't stand to talk about leaving. The Mother Hen had a moment on Tuesday..."I had this realization yesterday: you just got here and now you're leaving again." Such is life...but let's not talk about that just yet. Adventures do abound, but they can just stay at bay for now.
Oh, I left my camera in Doug's golf bag, so I have to wait to get it back to post the old pictures and to use that memory card in the new camera (because yes, I'm that cheap).
The Girls' Weekend at the cottage was amazing. The weather was on and off (really? Weather was "on and off"? What a bizarre expression), so we had our fair share of sun bathing in the lake (with a blow-up cooler...don't mind if I do) as well as card and Scrabble games. Three double batches of Rice Krispie Squares ensure that I will never crave those again. Aside from Alicia seeing a mouse and having to come home to sleep, it was a great time.
All my Korean friends are vacationing now. Trips to the Philippines, Japan, and where else? I don't know...I'm totally jealous. I was ready though to come home, right? I can't remember. All I know NOW is that I'm pretty, pretty happy to be here ;)
Have a great day!
