Most mornings during the week, I feel as though I'm treading water. By the time night rolls around, I'm exhausted and fall into a near coma of slumber. This pace is not sustainable. However, my job is very rewarding, the career path I've chosen is rather trying at times, and this is all to be expected in a new place with a new school system. Right?
Right.
Last weekend we had a Jamie Oliver restaurant fail. We wanted to go, but as I was making reservations, I discovered that the fixed menu was over £100 per person. Yikes. For food ALONE. And since no night out is complete without a little wine, I opted for a different place instead. It was an odd sort of triple date, but we had a good time wandering around London Bridge well into Friday night. I just love the city. It's damp and cool, and a little mysterious.
I can't recall what else I did last weekend, but I'll fast forward to this one.
Friday night we went out with some work folk for some bowling in this strange industrial park. It was my boss's birthday and since she abhors birthdays as much as I do, the event was pretty tame. Anyway, it was nice to be out with people outside of the school, so I had a good time. Rounded out the eve at the pub with some gals and headed to bed. Worked Saturday morning...two classes, much math...pure exhaustion.
Went to a house party on the Thames on Saturday night. Sometimes the ride home is so tedious, especially when it's raining.
Sunday was supposed to be breakfast in Greenwich, but train service was suspended. After a strange dip into Lewisham, where it was decided I had only heard of the town because someone was warning me NEVER to go there, we were back to the Thames, into the Galleria somethingorother for some delightful French fare along the river. Good coffee, good company, good FOOD. Thank god we ran into the gorgeous Scottish men that we did...they led us swiftly from the homeless shelter area where we found ourselves lost, to this delightful little shopping area. Picked up a charming winter scarf, some peacock earrings, a latte, and headed home for some planning (still feel underprepared today though). Dinner with Colette rounded out the eve...made a great roast chicken, mashed potatoes, and cleaned up a few bottles of wine.
Slept well, was up at 4:30 wondering how I was going to organize something. Who knows what.
Laundry is my arch enemy. I desperately need for this drizzle to stop so we can fully DRY anything. My towel was so wet this morning I just put my pajamas back on to dry off. Sigh.
Back to it..25 minutes until the rugrats arrive.
Hope you had a great weekend. Pics to follow, I promise.
