My First Love

Do you remember your first love?

Remember what it felt like to believe wholeheartedly that every single thing depended on one person? He was the sun, the moon, the sky, and the heart that could love all those things as intently as the world needed them.

I remember mine fondly.

As I come to the end of this book that had good moments (The Perfect Age by Heather Skyler), I stumbled upon this passage. I thought I'd share.

Their parting seemed at once monumental and small. Here I am, she thought as they stood in his driveway, leaving the first person I ever loved, but it was as i she were watching the scene on a movie screen, and the person watching the movie was thinking, They're just a pair of teenagers, and nothing's even happened to them yet. There will be other, bigger things to come. Really, this is small.

Let it be said that for all those times we recognize love in any form at all, be it small or enormous (because love is never small...it is forever enormous), we are validating and perpetuating love. Is there anything better?

I didn't think so ;)

I'm off to London Town tomorrow to explore Kensington, Holland Park, and the Serpentine Gallery. I'm also going to try to make it to mass at Westminster Abbey at 5:30. They have a choir (who only perform weekdays at that time and for big events...think Royal Wedding!) and admission is free! It's supposed to be a bit sunny Tuesday, but rainy Wednesday, so I'll hit up the Natural History, Science, and Victoria & Albert Museums, along with Harrod's. Should be a fun few days!

Pic is mine from the Guinness Factory.
