Right here, right now

My mantra keeps proving its merit, especially at times like these, on days like these: every single thing that has ever happened has brought me right here, right now. So no matter how crummy (sp?) something might seem when it happens, it will definitely bring me to a place of clarity at some point in my future. Things always happen for a reason: the reason is rarely clear, but becomes evident with time. Sometimes it's a small reason: this happened to simply bring you here, but other times the reasons are far more profound.

I'm digging this philosophy today.

If you forget, this was the mantra first discovered while floating in the ocean at Railay West Beach in Thailand. What an awesome discovery.

The last day of school was really sad for me and for my friends. It was really hard to say goodbye, to imagine Tuesday afternoons (a random day when I often thought of catching a weekend flight back to Toronto) without them, to picture Friday nights gathered around cheese plates not made by them. And w
hen I need a rock, a shoulder, a sounding board, I'm going to have to find a new one, aren't I?

On the flipside, these girls are going home to an unsure future: being a teacher in Ontario isn't exactly the easiest market to break into. Kudos to them for having the courage to choose home over Dartford ;) I'm not yet brave enough to settle back on the other good side of the pond.

They're not fearless...

but they're strong.

Remember my staff party after my last day at Keun Myeong? hahahahaah...I do. Close to 30 of us crammed into my teeny tiny apartment. Oh lordy, life has been good to me. Pictures of our (fifteenth) staff party coming soon. I swear, it's the last ;)
