One of Steven's favourite expressions is, "Get in here", usually accompanied by a vast amount of cuddling, thus, this image spoke to me.
School is over for the Christmas holiday. I feel such an overwhelming sense of relief, I can't even describe it. And to know that my friend is coming over for a long visit just fills me with all the wonderful emotions that one is supposed to feel over the Christmas period. It's all good.
Speaking of good, let's recap some heart-warming moments from this week:
- Two men in my life told me to stick up for myself a little more because I deserved a little more respect (thank you, men!)
- I left my Year 7 class for about ten minutes today (an eternity to an 11-year old) to hand out freshly marked Year 11 books to the students so they could take them home to study. I came back expecting that even though I'd left Elf on for them to watch, they'd be hanging from the ceiling lights. Lo and behold, there they sat, quiet as church mice, giggling at Will Ferrell. Score.
- Kathleen bought me the most beautiful pair (and my first pair, note) of leather gloves. I'm in love with them and just can't thank her enough.
- Three children who are no longer in my class told me, separately, mind, "I really miss you". Nice. Really nice.
- I downloaded Vincent Lam's new book, the Headmaster's Wager (he's the ER doc who wrote Bloodletting and Miraculous Cures, which I love love loved) onto my Kindle. Happy reading, Bergamo.
- A multitude of children brought me cards, gifts of chocolate, and other awesome things (including Occitane hand and body washes from my favourite tutee) for Christmas. They say there's a recession: I think it's blasphemy. Giving has never been this generous.
- Found this tweet from Steven the day after our first date: 5 hrs sleep in two days. Awesome weekend though.
