All My Bags are Packed

This has been a really emotional last few days. This unexpected letting go was a really tough inner battle. I'm lucky though: always lucky...I'm blessed to have the people I do to help me through this stuff. They don't judge me or my intense reactions, which is probably the most important thing. They also don't try to fix me: they accept me and help me move on.

So...that has to be over with now. I have walked away, emotionally speaking (or at least tried to) and now it's time to embark on the first journey of it's kind: the backpacking trip. I'm sure that after this trip is done, Leanne and I will know just how many litres your bag should be for optimal comfort, space, and portability. For now though, we are winging it. She has an enormous 55 litre bag (keep in mind, she's a very, very small gal) and I have a dwarfed 50 litre (because I'm not quite so tiny). We're totally going to be those people. We're going to ask, "So what are you packing?" in that goofy baritone voice. I'm rolling my eyes at us as we speak. I don't care...this is the adventure of a lifetime. Who would have thought? No one, that's who.

With the exception of Joelle and Jackie, I've actually talked to you all in the last few days. I've learned that Alicia and Dave's honeymoon in Jamaica was amazing, Laura is doing her own accounting for the time being (maybe until I come home, wink wink) and she's reeling about Canada's Olympics fight song: "Eh-O-Canada-Go!" I love it...it's super catchy. Or "catcy" as I like to say ;) Shalaina's Matthew and Emma are growing like children do and are rockstars at school and Avadawn now says, "Come on come on" almost like it's one word. My heart almost ripped from my chest when I heard her sing-songy little voice...swoon. Joelle's attempting to get the curry smell out of her new house (as I'm growing quite fond of it...yessah!), and Leanne (and I!) are already knee-deep in wedding plans. Korea, you might be happy to know that I'm bringing her some of your paper for her to scout for wedding invitations. Who knows...maybe she'll bring a little Kooooorea to the barn!

Everyone managed to make it through the holidays and into 2010 healthy and happy. What more could I want for us all? I'm getting teary-eyed. I wish you could all be coming with us on this adventure. I miss you all so much.

I might attempt to post while I'm gone if the weather is bad enough, but I don't think it'll happen. I can't wait to see the ocean and feel the sun. Asia of my Dreams...here we come!

Whoot, whoot!
