We started off Day 2 in Marbella, traveled through Estapona, and drove down the southern coast of the Cadiz region. We had heard that Cadiz was so beautiful and thinking it was a town more so than a region, we drove all day in the hopes of seeing this great city. Well well well, aren't we glad we stopped along the way for some entirely Spanish beachy goodness. Here we went...
Lazy dog flanking the wall overlooking the Straight of Gibraltar. Pretty flipping amazing to know that Africa was just across that waterway.
Alright, listen, when you are driving along the Spanish coast with the windows open, your hair takes a beating. And when you are surviving on cheap conditioner, your hair never really ever gets detangled. This leads to breakage which leads to my hairdresser making fun of me. So though I might look like a victim, please know the babushka hair kerchief was all for a good cause.
Stumbling upon this first beach was the highlight of the day. We stopped for some lunch on a blanket (well, sarong), Marcuzzi-styles, and soaked in some sunshine.
After another little ride in the car, we found this beach. Unreal how beautiful these places were along the coast. Swooning pretty hard right now, reveling in the memories.
After the beaches and a disappointing trip into the city of Cadiz, whereby we drove in, looked around from the safety of the care, stopped for water (extremely quickly) and left equally fast, we needed to wait a few hours before everything reopened after siesta. So we headed here for some pre-dinner drinks.
Nathan apparently won the vodka award. Check out that packaging just so we won't steal €11 worth of booze. Hilarity.
We popped into this restaurant because it looked amazing. Though my fish was fresh, it was swimming in cheese sauce (SO not in keeping with the ultra healthy diet we'd been on since my arrival in Spain [and that Nathan's been on for about six years]). Anyway, though a bit lackluster, I was a little surprised at this woman's accent. Turns out she's from Dartford. Seriously? WHAT are the chances? Slight, says I.
Next up: the white villages.
