We arrived in Bergerac, France, and drove to our home for five days: Eymet. We left, sadly, and drove across virtually across the entire country to Switzerland. We stayed in Geneva for two days before touching down in Lichtenstein. On our way, we stopped in Gstaad and at Lake Lucerne. From Lichtenstein, we spent two glorious nights in Igls, just outside Innsbruck. We were in a mountain, overlooking mountains...we almost turned into mountains. We at the best food (lamb stew on Easter Sunday and schnitzel the next day) in the sweetest little Tirolean restaurant. On Kat's birthday, we drove to Neuschwanstein Castle in the Black Forest (this is my real life), traveled up the mountain to the castle in a horse-drawn carriage, drank champagne at the top, and toured the place with the cutest (autistic?) tour guide named Benjamin. We spent the night in a strange car-themed town just outside of Stuttgart, but have arrived in Heidlberg and are now just relaxing before hitting the town.
We haven't had Starbucks in a loooong while, haven't spent hours on Facebook (only to see Adeline walking this morning! Unreal), haven't worried about work. It's been entirely liberating and full of glorious vistas. We have dinner tonight all planned out at this place (in case you were wondering) and a tour of the city as the sun sets.
I have well over a thousand pictures of this splendor: from the Alps to the castles. It has truly been a remarkable journey. Frank is going to scan the map that shows our loooong route and outline the paths we took.
I trust you are all having a great Easter time. I can't wait to see some pictures from your celebrations :)
