It's September

The weather is still undeniably hot here in South Korea, but the mornings and evenings are certainly, thankfully, cooling off. Though I've only donned one cardigan since arriving in Seoul in July, I have a feeling I'm going to exercise all those long-sleeved clothes in the coming months. I might even ask mom to send The Fur Jacket to me. I can't imagine what the Koreans would do with that! So even though the weather is still scorching mid-day, the leaves are starting to change ever so slightly on the trees. I took a walk the other night along the river in Anyang and you could feel the temperature lingering between warm and cool, ever so precariously.
I've always thought of fall as a new beginning more than an ending. I loved the back to school season and because for three years I didn't return to the classroom, I was always so sad that I was working instead. Last September though, I was thrilled to be back in Western's halls, backpack on, learning new things. Again, I'm lucky enough this year to be in another school for a totally different reason. Perhaps this renewed sense of hope, this awakening I feel come autumn, is the reason I decided to be a teacher after all. I remember so much excitement that came after Labour Day weekend...so much hope, so much promise for a new year, a new start. So now here I am, having yet another new start; this time far, far away from my last.
Enjoy the last weekend of the summer. I miss you, Canada.
