Sundays In Central Park

Though I was a little too tired today to go enjoy the lantern festival (that is supposedly the best thing to see in Koooorea...now I just have to go!), we did make it out to the park for a little reading and a little sunning. We didn't have spring in Korea...just rapidly transitioned from winter to early summer. The nights are still cool, so I guess that's rather springy, but the days are hot hot hot. I can't get enough!

You know how I feel about Korean children: they're socially awkward (well, according to my standards), often physically incapable of much more than holding themselves upright (unless they are acutely aware of their bodies, and these, trust me, are the exception to the rule), and just so darn cute. I don't know why I like the look of them so much...for the most part, they're just gorgeous.

This kid was hitting a ball as if it were a golf ball with a foam baseball bat. It was pretty funny. It was like a cross between golf, croquette, and awkward no-name sport that involves running and laughing.

Many a kite were flying. You know what's the coolest? Old men love to fly kites here. It's definitely a finesse sport.

I was horizontal for most of the day, drinking in the sunshine, watching families enjoy each other for the one day they have each other, listening to Korean whines and giggles. Not entirely surprising, they sound exactly like Canadian whines and giggles ;)

As I was walking home, the smell of these hit me before the sight of them did. I was instantly ripped from the present, transported to the past, to 8 Burke Drive, when my Mom had literally hundreds of impatiens planted all over the front gardens. What a delicious memory. And how gorge are these pink babies?
