I took Metro Line 2 to Cimetiere du Pere Lachaise to see the Cemetery to the Stars. It was gorgeous...
Jim Morrison's grave upset me. There were youngsters (yup, I said that) playing the Doors out loud on their iPods (who thought that would happen? Doors on an iPod?) and it just felt so wrong...
...because earlier I had seen a woman bent over and tending to a grave site.
It reminded me that above all, this is a place for loved ones to mourn the loss of the dead, not a place for us to come and gawk at the place where those dead rest.
I had to get out of there immediately.

I later fell in love with the Tarot Card Caravan parked at Pere-Lechaise Metro station.
...as well as these two shooting a little movie.
From there, it was back to the Eiffel Tower for one last glimpse. I wanted to catch ONE image...
...of this carousel and that tower
I lunched in a tiny park populated by gypsies who, surprisingly, left me alone for the duration of my dining experience. I guess it was their time off, too.
I had to make my way back to the house to catch my flight, so I walked along the Siene, drinking in the culture all the way. This was my favourite walk of the entire trip. Here is the Pont des Invalides, overlooking Grand Palais.
As I got even closer to the river, Palais de l'Elysees was on my right...
and the best bridge ever: Pont Alexandre, was on my left. Pretty awesome.
Grand Palais and Petite Palais
Charles du Gaulle
One last glimpse of all things French: the Presse Stand.
I'll post more pictures as I come across them and am just dying to share.
This was the last trip, folks. We have about five teaching weeks left in the year, and then I'm done. Unreal how fast time flies, isn't it?
I hope your week was just as spectacular.
