Scenes from the Arc de Triomph, daytime edition...
From here, we walked down the Champs d'Elysees (another thing to must-do crossed off the proverbial list) to the Place de la Concorde,
then crossed the street to the Jardin des Tuileries. This was by far my favourite spot. We were so engrossed in talking though that I didn't take a picture. I returned though, so there will be pics to come.
This is a picture of the Arc de Triomph du Carrousel, right outside the Louvre. If you sit at the pyramids and look back, you can see a view all the way back to La Defense, through the Arc de Triomph. The architects designed the Champs d'Elysees so perfectly, so precisely, that you can view all the major monuments in a perfect line right through the city. Pretty wicked, non?
Item number two on the "must do" list: picnic in the Parc de Champ de Mars, under the Eiffel Tower. I wasn't interested in climbing it...I just wanted to take it all in. Where better than right below it?
Alas, I found yet another shady spot to rest awhile and take in the splendor of the city.
Since it was Sheila's last (and only second!) day in Paris, we celebrated by eating this for dinner. I'm not much of a custard fan, so I mainly watched, but gosh, the French really do know propriety, don't they?
And now, alone in the City of Love, I was off to explore some more...
