We're back at school now in 2012. It's come as such a shock to have traveled back home only to come back again. Dartford is certainly home for the time being, but something about working again feels super surreal. I guess half my heart is back at home with those I love (could this picture BE any cuter? "Just Born" on the sock. Stop.)
and half my brain is thinking about school boards I've applied to (yippee!). In addition to this, I've been teaching stuff I've never taught before. We're talking quadratic formula and surds, folks...it's pretty heavy. On top of this, I'm tutoring at night and starting my Spec Ed AQ course on Tuesday. Yikes. Makes you wonder when I'll have time for a life.
Anyway, it's good to know that just like last year, the children are far more receptive after Christmas than they were before. I think they feel a certain amount of loyalty to us now that we've shown a certain amount of commitment to them. Go figure. So we're motoring along, working hard, living the dream, as my friend Jackie would say.
Only five weeks left until we have a break in February (I took a mini-break to Kensington Palace in Kensington Gardens last year and stayed in that beautiful hostel with those vomiting young men. Oh, how times change). In a few weeks, Erik and I are headed to the Isle of Wight for a weekend getaway. How classy.
As for now, I think that since it's nearing ten, it's nearly time to hit the sack. How very...something.
Hope your first week back (or last weekend off!) was great.
