Five Things...plus one

I am waiting with baited breath for things to come to light. I'm heavy-hearted at times and still startlingly optimistic. Because how else can we be? At times, the urge to be home is so strong I nearly jump on a plane with the thought of returning tomorrow for work. Alas, I stay put, knowing that my presence isn't the be all and end all in comfort. I lie awake at night knowing that we can sleep...

Have courage for
the great sorrows of life
and patience
for the small ones;
and when you have
laboriously accomplished
your daily task,
go to sleep in peace.

God is awake.

Victor Hugo

With all that said, a few super fantastic things happened today.

First, we are officially full time, permanent employees of the school. We don't have a fixed contract length, but we will be here for the duration of the year...and maybe next year too. Just putting that out there so you can get used to the idea in case it happens. We are entitled to sick days (thank god) as well as paid vacay. Nice.

Second, Jamie is coming WITH me to France and Italy. Though there have been subtle hints from others (and I welcome ANYONE who wants to come. Why NOT?!), she has officially taken the reigns on this trip and is booking her flight soon. Totally awesome. No more dining alone ;)

Third, a kid I really don't like (side note: though I really do believe that all these rascals needs is affection and attention, there are some that are so far gone, even the biggest hugs can't save them anymore. He is one of them) lost it on me today. He threatened me and then told me to f*ck off. Nice. I refuse to teach him now "for my safety and the safety of the students I teach." Thank god.

Fourth, going on a tour of London on Saturday with a friend of a friend. Should be nice to see London, "properly".

Fifth, I had a date last night that was delicious.

Sixth, I'm in LOVE with Bon Iver. If you haven't jumped on this bandwagon, get on it now. Here is one of my favourite clips of theirs. This For Emma, Forever Ago...

And yet another one. This is Skinny Love...

I hope you are surrounded by loved ones and the notion that eventually things work out just as they are meant to.
