A (Proper) London Tour

Here is a list of where I went last Saturday...so you can visualize where I was and what I was seeing in this great old town of mine.

We met up at Monmouth Cafe in Covent Garden...
went through Borough Market...
and walked along the Thames, past the Globe Theatre,
and into the Tate Modern Museum.

After a few hours of looking at new, albeit strange, art, we saw the London Eye,
Westminster Bridge,
Big Ben,
the Houses of Parliament,
10 Downing Street where the Prime Minister lives,
St. James' Park
Horse Guards Parade where the Queen's horses train and exercise for shows,
looked up the street to Buckingham Palace,
then headed into the National Gallery just to look at one picture,
then took a long, hard look at Trafalgar Square.

Quite a place in which I live, non?

We had lunch at Notes Cafe in Trafalgar Square after not being able to get a table at Pret a Manger. What a find! We had hand-pressed coffee (that cost three pounds a cup) and hand-made sarnis. What a treat.

Following this, we headed through SoHo to Chinatown,
saw the 7 Dials,
headed into Covent Garden for some wine and warm nuts (yup, I just said that),
saw the West End Theatre District,
headed back to SoHo for some touring around there...
before heading into the mayhem that was Regent and Oxford Streets.

We finished the night off in Shortage, a new area near...um...SoHo? I can't remember at a bar called the Book Club. It was fantastic. They have a ping pong table in there. How kitschy is that? Loves it.

Wish I had taken my camera so I could have shared this with you. Miss you all a lot. But lordy, I'm having a great snow day here in Dartford.
