Happenings

I wonder all the time if things really DO happen for a reason. From this safe side of the fence, it is quite easy to chalk "it" all up to what is "supposed to" happen. But from the other, tumultuous, side, how in God's name could horrendous things happen for any reason?

We ask ourselves all the time...why me? Why now? Why not? And really, does knowing there is a REAL reason make the reality of our situation any easier to handle? No.

So here is what I've come up with, in my not-so-infinite wisdom: things happen. And that is where it begins and ends for me. If you need something more, take what you need. For me though, there are all of you and there is me, and there are the infinite number of things that make up the reality of our existence. Sometimes they are fair and, more poignantly, sometimes they are not. Sometimes an open door leads no where and we are forced to question all that we know.

Somehow though, as experience has taught us, we survive. And we thrive. But we know there is a reason for that: we are supported, held up, propped up at times, by those who love us most.

I used to think I could imagine all passions, all feelings, and states of the heart and mind; but how little did I know! Indeed we are shadows; we are not endowed by real life, and all that seems most real about us is but the thinnest substance of a dream --till the heart be touched. That touch creates us.
