It's a rainy day in Korea today. I've been told I can't teach and must rest. Works for me.
So I'm feeling a bit contemplative...what else is new, right? But today I'm warm, feeling quite good, and comfortable, so the feeling of wanting to think about things is trumping the need to think about them.
I found a new blog and love love love the photography on it. The man who writes it also seems very much in love with his lady, which just melted my heart. When he takes a picture of her, I can see the careful consideration taken to capture her mood, her best angle, the moment. And when he writes of her in simple language, kindness and acceptance pour out. Check out the outpourings here.
So here is a song that captures my mood today. It's Eva Cassidy performing Simon and Garfunkel's "Kathy's Song". Loving it. Thanks HEARBLACK.
I'm a bit touched today. Thought of a lyric I just can't get out of my head...
I remember
That time that you told me
You said,
"Love is touching souls."
Surely you touched mine
'Cause part of you
Pours out of me
In these lines from time to time.
It's Joni Mitchell's Case of You. I've always held a special place for it (I think I do have your CD, Mom).
Isn't spring a magnificent time of year? Forsythia is blooming along my river in Anyang, and I can't wait for this Dust to lift so I can go out and see it blossom. That yellow colour reminds me of Western at this time of year. The Bridge gets inundated with the bright plants, illuminating the path to the hill, getting walkers and drivers alike prepared for the awesomeness of the purple and white tulips that will bloom in the weeks ahead.
It's a warm memory: reminded me that the pressure was almost over, that summer was fast approaching. But a damp memory too: the year was almost over; I'd have to go four months without seeing You again. It was bittersweet in the most honest sense of the word.
I hope you're getting in the spirit.
