Koreans love rice. That might sound like an intuitive comment, being that Korea is in Asia, but I don't subscribe to stereotypes like that. It's worth mentioning because they love rice so much that other grains take a backseat in popularity. This doesn't really affect me all that much on a day-by-day basis, but when it's oats I crave, Korea is not the place to be. I found a website about a vegan living in Seoul, and she was kind enough to post information about where to get oatmeal in Korea.
I ordered it online, opting for three bags, hoping that would last me a little while. After a small snag in the delivery process, the oats were finally delivered on Saturday.
(doesn't that look gross up there? Vacuum-sealed gigantic oatmeal...I was a little pessimistic at first, I'll admit)
The Verdict...They're strange: they individual grains are large (huge! in fact)...
...and don't cook as well as our smaller Quick Oats to back home (as in the bowl of mush is a little more like muesli than porridge), but man, are they good!
