This isn't exactly a representation of the conversation. She actually offered to take time off from taking over the world so that we could dine, hike, talk, walk, peruse the Burlington shoppes, eat as much bread as I can at Pane Fresco, and catch up before I'm out of country again. But I had a pretty good laugh about the, "you could get a job" comment. What a lady. In the spirit of all things stress-free, here's a little tidbit I found today (committing the cardinal sin of blogging: not sourcing an image. Sorry!):
Me: Mummy! I'm coming home!
Mummy: Oh...(sounding quite unsure)
Me: I'd like to stay with you. In your condo. So we can, you know, have breakfast together and stuff.
Mummy: Oh...(sounding even more unsure)
Me: Well, only if there's room, of course (sounding a bit dejected).
Mummy: Yeah...okay. You know, you could get a job at Starbucks (sounding hopeful).

The Mumma of Stress
My mom's client's call her "the Mumma of Stress". I told her this has to be said with a James Brown accent in order to avoid sounding like she's the mother who causes stress. I'm returning to Canada for a time before departing for Italy and I have to share my rather funny interpretation of the conversation I had with My Mummy about this:
