C'mon, Get Happy

Phase One of the Asian Adventure: Get Healed...check! We're moving on to Phase Two, folks.

Phase Two of the Asian Adventure: Get Happy.

I should clarify...perhaps it should read, "Get Happier", because I find myself quite giddy these days. However, there is always room for more joy in this life of mine, and always opportunity to evict sourness. So here we are at the Get Happy phase of the journey. Can you believe this Asian Adventure is two thirds done already? My how time flies.

I read a piece by Kathleen Hall recently. She describes four roots of real happiness in a handy and aptly appointed acronym: SELF. The four roots are: serenity; exercise; love; and food. It's a good thing I happen to like all four of these little gems ;) I'm going on a little journey and I've made a few resolutions. This journey coincides with lent for several reasons, the most logical of them being that 40 days is a reasonably manageable amount of time to see results (or lack thereof) from making changes. Since I don't believe in
resolving to do, rather I believe simply in doing, here's the plan:

  • 40 runs in 40 days
  • daily journals about happiness, acceptance, growth, peace, or forgiveness (blogging does not count as journaling...I'm going to delve into my inner and private psyche)
  • speak positively (we gossip a lot in Korea...it's too easy for the words to just slip off my tongue. I don't like it, so I'm going to change it)
There we go. It's in writing now and it's public.
Happier life, here I come.
