SELF: Day Three

It has been another spectacular day. The sun was shining so brightly today, I questioned my sanity in leaving my shades at home. I got my fill of serenity today (the S in SELF) when I was told I had to attend a department meeting. Sounded interesting, though Black Dress told me it was foolish of me to come, since the entire oration would be in Korean.
Side note: I may or may not have mentioned that My Man is no longer My Man. I guess come March (the beginning of the school year), the teacher responsible for the English teacher changes. The term black dress refers to how Matt and I differentiate between this teacher and the one I eat lunch with everyday, known as The Beautiful Girl. Thus, the role of My Man is now being played by Black Dress.
So it was strange to me when another teacher with whom I have no affiliation told me it was impertinent that I attend this meeting. It must be in English, I thought. However, Black Dress was right: it was rather foolish of me to be there. It was a two-hour long meeting. In Korean.

I took a deep breath and journaled about why I want to move to Europe. It was very enlightening and not at all private, so I'll blog it.
I guess what I'm getting at is that normally I would freak out in a situation like that. I can't stand when I'm put in time-wasting positions. And even though it was showing some solidarity to my department, my presence was really pointless. Let's not jump ahead of ourselves...I'm not a changed person over the course of one week and one resolution/change/don't-resolve-to-do-it-just-do-it, but I will say I was calm. I found an opportunity to do something I wouldn't normally do, and it was very calming.

After school was over (no classes again today), I went to see the Chinese doctor about the pain in my calves. He took my foot in his crotch and was palpating my calf, asking, "does it hurt when I do this?", when he looked at me and said, "you can't sit all day." Oh. Riiiight...

When I was in the last time, he told me to run everyday, never drink, and always be walking. Totally doable, right? Le sigh. So though I took his advice about the running (which hasn't been daily until incredibly recently), I still hadn't taken his advice about the sitting. Sorry, Doc.
No issue though. He hooked me up to the TENS machine, gave me acupuncture which hurt like mad and made me bleed (ew...let's not dredge that up), and put a heating pad on for about a half an hour. It still hurts a lot, but he says the only way to make it go away is to keep running. So I did and it was great. Hurt less when I got back ;)

Go figure.

Can you believe that is Dakota Fanning
in Italian Vogue?

She's such a grown up now.
Awesome.
