Valentine's Day is for Lovas

Alright, really. Be honest with me...are we really celebrating this holiday this year? I'm in the Land of Perpetually Glowing Neon Lights and Public Shoving...do they even DO St. Valentine here? They certainly don't do Hallmark cards here, so I figure if we're safe from them, can we also be safe from Va-va-va-voom day?

I'm trying to be clever and not cynical...I don't
mind Valentine's Day...I just don't really think it's my thing this year. I should find out how to say lovely things in Italian for the occasion instead. For instance, do you remember that dance song from high school aptly named, "Ti Amo"? AWESOME. I remember dancing in the cafetorium to that song near the end of the night AND I remember who I was dancing with. The innocent shall remain nameless. I digress...

Needless to say, in true I-think-I-might-boycott-the-over-hyped-holiday-even-if-celebrating-by-drinking-fabulous-wine-with-Captain-Marvelous fashion, here's a little nugget of truth that might help me stay grounded.

The definition of "forever" as written in the Random House Dictionary is, "without ever ending; eternally". Whoa. Here's what I've learned in the last 365 days: things always change. This is the one true constant I can be sure of. If things change, then subsequently, things must also end. I'm pretty sure I'm not being cynical, just realistic when I reiterate (even if based solely on logic), nothing is forever. Well, okay, in the spirit of cinnamon hearts and that valentine that said, "I choo-choo-choose you", how about this? Change is forever.

Now let's plan us a kick-ass V-day, shall we?
