De-Funked

Alright, I've been in a funk for the last few days, I'll admit it. Teaching a ga-zillion classes, working out like a fiend, never feeling rested...it's enough to drive a girl mad. BUT today is Thursday, shockingly close to the weekend, and I'm in good spirits. I'm wearing ten thousand layers of expertly placed clothing, so I'm actually warm (and still wearing my winter boots inside--gasp!), which is a good start to ANY day, and I'm looking forward to teaching my kids today. I'm finally in the swing of things after yesterdays marathon of classes. Plus, tonight we have to stay late at school to practice our drumming routine (I know...my face is scrunched up in that, "what the hell are you talking about" expression too) for tomorrow's "Welcome, Freshmen!" assembly. I'm positive that will be a hilarious experience.

Yesterday at around 3 pm, it started to snow here in Korea. Like, really snow. What's the deal, Climate Change? I don't like you. Nor do I like the cars that idle for so long here, exacerbating the problem. Running outside was not an option, so I had pasta instead :) It was wonderful. After doing some laundry, watching me some NCIS, and still having time to kill before my self-imposed early bedtime, I headed back to the gym like a lunatic, and did some treadmillin'. Clearly I'm not Irish and find it acceptable to "celebrate" St. Paddy's Day on an alternate day (read: a day after which I don't need to be gymmin'), as nuts as that makes certain people ;)

It felt good to just run it out and I felt much more calm. AND last night, the new neighbours were quiet. Ahhh...no need to go raisin' a little hell next door. Thank god.

...later...

I took a student's cellphone away on Mon
day, promising to hold onto it for a week. She came in today with a cookie she'd made at home. Looked pretty, pretty good, to be honest. She said she was really sorry and felt stupid and she'd never do it again. I wanted to tell her, "Hey kid, you had me at giving me the cookie. You can have your phone back and my first born!", but I restrained myself. Whoot whoot cookie!

I just ate said cookie. Pretty sure she bought this bad boy. It was just too crunchy and perfectly formed. Still, paying for a cookie to get your phone back? Money well spent, says I. Maybe I give in too easily? Maybe I just miss cookies.
