What's Good?

Alright, here's the story about the weekend.
But first, I have to tell you I've just been compared to one of the grossest movie stars who has ever graced the Silver Screen.

I'm sure not many will agree with me, but ever since I made out with her, I've thought that Nicole Kidman is just ucky (I trust she doesn't read my blog, so I think I can write that safely). One night in the apartment I shared with Leanne, I had a dream about kissing Nicole Kidman. I was facing the mirror in the bathroom and she had her back to it. I couldn't stop looking at myself, totally appaled at what I was doing, completely unable to stop because I was starstruck...what a tool. When I see her on tv, I still can't help but think of that long disgusting curly ginger hair infiltrating my bathroom. I shudder. Anyway, I've just been told by Black Dress that I look
just like her. Wow. We really do all look alike to them, don't we ;)

Friday afternoon started off with a bang...I mean a bank...bank trip. Oh god, this is bad Dad Humour. After the bank, a nap was in order. I was so tired from this week of doing not much at work, too much at the gym, and just enough on the pavement. Following this, I spent a good hour (if not more time), getting ready for a night on the town. Yeah, I didn't run. I curled my hair instead. I say it was time well spent.

We headed to Carolyn's birthday party in Pyeongchon for some celebratory cake and beer. Good thing Korea has a very liberal BYOB policy that allowed me to sneak in some wine. This was followed by a stop at the 24-hour grocery store (where, hilariously, Notorious BIG was playing in the bathroom), the purchasing of a ham sandwich which was later placed alongside the why-don't-we-put-ALL-the-wine-types-in-one-bottle Wolf Blass, a little house partying, some chicken eating, some wine spilling, clean white coat mourning, futon sitting, and eventual awesome comment of the night. Katie awoke from a deep slumber, moaning loudly. She then pshaw-ed in our general direction, "no no no", when we giggled at her strange exclamation.

"I was just thinking about granola", she said.

Of course you were. Because we live in Asia. And that's how Friday nights end here.

Things that make me happy, this weekend's edition:

1. Walking places: being able to walk places; having people around who want to walk;wanting to walk with the people I'm with. The weather is nice...the company is nicer. Sounds like happiness to me.

2. People remembering things I've told them, even if they're unimportant and fairly insignificant. Awesome.

3. Being invited places.

4. When Very Late arrives and you still want to be up.

5. Spending enormous amounts of time
with the new Texans, Kara and Michelle, and eventually wrapping it all up with a sleepover. And then wrapping that all up with strong coffee in the morning. Sleepovers: they make me happy.

I saw Alice in Wonderland on Saturday: my first ever 3D movie. It was pretty neat to see things, you know, flying at my face, but I'm not really a fan of the whole children's action adventure film genre. Johnny Depp (swoon) was as remarkable as ever, but sort of sounded like Dustin Hoffman in Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium at times. Molto unattractive.
