Most schools get funding from the government in Korea so they can build what is known as an English Zone at their school. It is bright, cheery, new (most importantly) and built almost always for the English-speaking foreign teacher. Great. Here is the building that was recently converted into the English Town.
Here is the heading above the classroom that I thought was mine.
Here is the inside of said classroom (it's positively gorgeous inside)...
Here's the classroom next door...the dance studio that will probably never be used.
And here's the kicker: I don't get to use any of it. Nope, none. Apparently it is more beneficial for the students and teachers who don't get time with me (the oldest students, many of which don't have time for English conversation anyway, since they are frantically preparing for university) who will get sole use of the room. I'm baffled...and a little disappointed.
I really wanted to
(this is totally a whine, in case you didn't know just how to read it)
teach in this room!
I'm stomping my feet on the ground just a little right now. Sigh.
