10 Reasons to Avoid Talking on the Phone
A Note on Reason #10: one of the things I love love love about Carolyn is that she abruptly ends phone conversations when they're over. She's not all about those polite, annoying, uncomfortable formalities that take far too much time and aren't at all purposeful.
The Koreans do this incredibly well also. When what needs to be said has been said, they say, "yes" in Korean and hang up.
My father is the exact opposite of Carolyn: he has this amazing ability (that I've adopted or inherited...nature versus nurture: what side of the fence are you on?) to keep a convo going for far longer than it's natural life expectancy. He'll tell you all about so-and-so's divorce and such-and-such's weight loss or what he ate for breakfast, lunch AND dinner on vacation after the real conversation has ended, but before hanging up. It's really awesome. As in, I am in awe every time it happens.

Now I miss my Dad like I missed apple pie earlier today. Sigh.
