This is a picture my friend Kara snapped last Sunday at Emart, our local huge grocery store. You may know Kara from such blogs as the Andy Warhol one and the pictures of the yellow dust in Seoul. She's one of the Texans.
Imagine if you will, a hopped up Costco, complete with people who can't drive shopping carts, food samples being attacked like they're The Last Supper (Yours Truly is guilty of this too. I like samples okay? Jeesh), and weighing stations beside the produce because the cashier couldn't possibly learn the codes and weigh it at the checkout like we do back home (read: the sane way).
Emart is a wacky, wacky place. I hope the picture captures the mood and the true essence of the "mart-uh", as my kids would say.
